Life As An Itinerant Artist

Stories and anecdotes from fifteen years on the art show circuit.

Rainy days in Birmingham

Did the Shain Park show in Birmingham this past weekend. Lots of great work around the park. Unfortunately it rained on Sunday. And rained. The last show that was this dreary was last year’s Hobe Sound show in Florida. It really put a damper on most folks Mother’s Day, at least as far as outdoor activity. We saw a few old friends, and had a good time regardless of the weather.

One nice thing about the Birmingham show is that it’s close to home. Karyn and I got to sleep in our own bed, and since the show shut down about 2PM, we were packed up and home by 5! Didn’t know what to do with myself. It’s always good to look for the silver lining.

This coming weekend we’re off to Springfield, Illinois for the Old Capitol Art Fair — a new venue for us. Hope that the weather is better than this weekend!
